Proposed George W. Bush Sewage Plant makes ballot

A friend of mine who has moved to Shanghai always talked about this Federalist style bathroom that was built in two days on the outskirts of Shanghai in preparation for George W. Bush's arrival for some trade talks. He, of course always referred to it as the George W. Bush Memorial Bathroom, but this is even grander!

Never has voting been this much fun!

From current.com, a nicely put together collection of interviews and stories from early days of Bay Area Derby Girls and derby life in general. Not only do I love the women being interviewed, I appreciate the focus on what derby really is to the players, not just the cheap-shots and cheesecake poses that is so often portrayed in media (don't get me wrong - that part is fun too!).

まあ、もともと、このあたりのパースなんかはウソをついている場合も多いのでうまくいかないのかもしれませんが、方法的には少しコツがつかめてきた気がするのでちゃんとした資料さえあればなんとかなりそうです。（笑）

クリエイティブ・コモンズとニコニ・コモンズ

個人的にはＣＣ派。というか、特にどんなアピールがあるのかよくわからんってのが正直な感想。
ニコ動の「ニコニ・コモンズ」とは何か？という記事をもとにちょっと考えてみます。

今まで、『自分がアップロードした音楽をみんなが使ってくれているらしいんだけど、実際どこで使われているか分からん』という状況があった。ニコニ・コモンズ経由なら、どこで使われているかがすぐに分かる。それがクリエイティブコモンズとの違い。

これはそれを管理できるフレームワークがあるという前提ですよね。ＣＣでもby-saあたりをつけておけばＣＣの範囲であれば管理できそうですが。

クリエイティブ・コモンズやGPLでは、一回公開しちゃうと作った人すら（利用ルール）を変えられなくなってしまう。それはちょっと覚悟がいること。「やっぱりやーめた」ということができる規約にしようと。

これ、個人的によくわからないのですが、つまり、それまでに許諾してたのを取り消して、芋蔓的に派生物の許諾を解除できるという意味なんでしょうか？　そうだとすると運用によっては危なっかしくて使えないライセンスではないのかな、と思ったり。

途中で素材の提供を「無料」から「有料」に変更することも可能だ。

これはＣＣでもできますよね。デュアルライセンスという手を使えば。
ＣＣのライセンスの説明にもちゃんと「著作[権]者から許可を得ると、これらの条件は適用されません。」と書いてある。
また、ＣＣの場合はncが付いてない限りは商用利用ＯＫですし。

プロ、アマ、個人、法人問わず、とりあえず素材をアップしてください。アップしたものが使われたら、ある時点から有料にすることもできる。ただ、有料にルールを変えるときまでは、無料で使ってもまったく合法。ビジネスをするかどうかについては、ニワンゴ、ドワンゴとしては関与しない。もしこれをビジネスにしたいという方がいらっしゃったら「どうぞ」という感じ。

これもよくわからんのですわ。つまり、有料になったらそれまで無料で使ってたものはどうなるんでしょうか？

ということで、個人的にはニコニ・コモンズは不安定で、どう運用できるかわからない危ういライセンスというイメージが……。うまくいったとしても、これらを固く管理できる、非常にクローズドな環境なんでしょうねぇ。少なくとも、公開物を多岐にばらまいている自分のような人間には使えなさそうです。

My little square friends

Every now and then, it actually strikes me as odd how my much life has become one defined primarily by multitudes of overlapping rectangles containing an nearly infinite but ephemeral stream of tiny meandering thoughts sent seemingly from a universe away by my little square friends often to no one in particular and apropos of nothing.

And then I get back work...

Just me, my furry office mate and my tiny little square friends. What an ultramodern, fantastical and lonely little world we've made for ourselves.
